We had a wonderful 10 day stay at the property. The house was as described and did not disappoint. The kitchen was well equipped but an electric kettle would have been very useful. The steepness of the driveway was a surprise to us and our car. The owner was very kind and understanding, when our satnav couldn't find the property he came down to the town to meet us. Would recommend the house and the views which were fantastic.
Beautiful and historical castle with spectacular views of the countryside around. Our accommodation was part of some buildings adjacent to the castle which had been very sympathetically decorated in a rustic shabby chic style, with lovely views from all sides. However, it was situatedin a shady spot which was a shame as we were unable to sit outside and enjoy the Tuscan sunshine. The amenities in the kitchen had also seen better days with a couple of the appliances perhaps needing to be renewed and utensils a bit thin on the ground. Lovely towels and bedding were supplied however and the bathrooms and bedrooms very nice. The staff in reception were very helpful and the grounds of the castle and the swimming pool were in a lovely setting. Just one major fly in the ointment - the weekend after we arrived a huge group of about 60 Swedish guests arrived who seem to think it was their right to take the whole place over. They told us that we were unable to use the pool as they had hired it for the weekend for themselves but as we were also paying guests and had not been told otherwise by the staff, we stayed in the pool but did in the end feel bullied out of it especially when they took the one sunbed that was available for us to use and put their things on it over the top of our things. That night and the following night they had a disco set up with very loud music that went on until well after 1 in the morning and could be heard from where our accommodation was. They also had a huge dinner in the courtyard of the castle and when we wanted to get to the restaurant the gates were locked around the outside and the only way through was by walking through their dinner and speeches and we didn’t feel that we wanted to do that. Thankfully they had all left by Monday morning and we were able to continue enjoying our holiday. We do feel that if the Castle wishes to take these large parties of people, then in fairness to other guests, they should close the rest of the Castle and not take any bookings for other people until the large group has departed. We did hear other guests who were staying near us complaining about the loud music to each other, so we know it wasn’t just us. EasyReserve as a company dealt with our booking well, although when I emailed them a couple of times with a couple of queries they were very slow in replying, so one time I telephoned using the number for the local rate, to find that I had been charged £7! If I had had a reply to my email I would not have got this charge. With the moans over, I would say that Castle Montegufoni is a lovely place to stay in Tuscany with a couple of of small villages nearby for basic shopping needs, and not too far from Pisa airport or Florence.

We are sorry this group behaved in such a bad way and we confirm that the pool at the Castle is never for exclusive use of a group, all guests can use the pool. We are looking into the high phone charge, we have a toll free number in the US and the UK and there is also the possibility through our website to ask for a call back or to chat with us, all for free of course.
This Villa is just lovely. The owner met us to take us to the Villa and was very helpful providing local information and details on restaurants etc. The property had everything we needed. Sadly we had a family emergency 3 nights into our stay and had to cancel our visit. The owner was extremely helpful and supportive through this process. We would recommend others to stay here it is a spectacular property.
Deliziosa viletta in Versilia... io e il mio compagno ci siamo trovati veramente bene... il giardino , il barbacue, la piscina tutto xfetto x una vacanza all'insegna del rilassamento!
Amamzing place with huge ground whre you can find many nice seats with view to land and sea!
There are 2 buildings, in big one you have 3 bedrooms and in second 2 bedrooms.
Very nic kitchen connected to terrace, so there si lots of fun during cooking...
View small thinks:
- water in swimming pool is very agressive (maybe to much chemicals) and cold
- jsut to know that you will be driving up the mountains on narrow way with 30% uphill (10 min. drive)
Place is amazing and villa very nice, we love this property and want to come back!!
We had a fantastic stay at Civetta. By coincidence we were the only guests there this week and Peggy and Nicola (the owners) were very welcoming and couldn't do too much for us- particularly on the morning that the water to the entire site was cut off they ran around fetching us watering cans of water so we could wash and some bottled water so we could drink. The only criticism is regarding the 100euro cleaning fee that we do feel is a bit steep. Can't it be incorporated in the price of the stay.
