I booked the villa for a family holiday as it was my dad's 60th so a very special occasion. There were 9 of us and we had such an amazing week, the photos of the Villa looked stunning but when we arrived it was even better. The views of the Tuscan hills were almost 360o around the villa incredible and the pool area was idyllic, a perfect place to relax. The directions could have been a little more descriptive but we didn't have any problems finding the villa and it was only 1 hours drive from Pisa airport so a great location.
We were greeted by the owner Mr Roberto and his assistant Letizia who were very welcoming and incredibly helpful. Letizia was always happy to answer any questions via email and make recommendations of places to go and see. We had a problem with the fridge and within an hour they sent someone out to look at it and supply a temporary one.
The villa itself was lovely, the open plan lounge and dining area was huge, I also agree with a previous comment that there is room for another sofa in there as you can't all sit comfortably together. The bedrooms were all well furnished and spacious, we opted to not have the air con on to save some money but it would have been good to have a fan in each of the bedrooms as it did get very hot.
The kitchen was a little small and you definitely couldn't fit 9 of you in there at any onetime, we also found that there was plenty of equipment but not 9 wine glasses or champagne flutes all a bit of a mis match!
Despite very small criticisms these were very minor and we would definitely go back. From reading a previous review we also got a local chef to come in on the night of my dad's 60th which was fantastic, we had a great meal, with a lot of food and alcohol. I would definitely recommend this.
We could have easily spent everyday relaxing by the pool but the the villa is well located to visit areas of Tuscany, so we took the train to Siena and Florence and drove to other towns in the region. The local town of Montaione is very picturesque, it has a reasonable sized supermarket, good restaurants and a great cafe for local coffee and gelateria.

We had a memorable two week vacation at Il Faggetto this August, and would recommend the house to anyone. Phillip, Marta and Terese (the caretaker and family) were helpful and lovely. Zara (the dog) was friendly and adorable. The house itself has been beautifully restored, furnished and cared for. It is spacious, comfortable, and well provisioned. The pool was beautiful. The Tuscan weather was perfect, with sunny warm days and cool evenings. All in all, a great vacation.

I would not stay at this place unless you had a rental car. Dont stay in August all restaurants in near by villages shut because of holidays those are the ones you can walk to.The Restaurant at the Castle has very limited menu choice once you have eaten there two nights you have tried everything.They could improve the situatiuon by renting out bikes or scooters which they dont do I mentioned this to the reception. The Taxi drivers who are local gouge guests if you use them. We wanted to go 5kms to a retaurant for a meal. The Taxi driver wanted to charge us 90 euros because he had to wait for us. This is unacceptable, they need to find a better and more fair way of getting guests to nearby villages. 65 euros to drive into Florence if you use the local taxi drivers. We got a taxi from the Florence railway station to Montifigunni for 47 euros so there is a fair bit of scalping going on be warned

Really beautiful setting just a couple of mins drive from San Gimigano which is lovely. Apartment very nice, very clean and tastefully decorated. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Only down side is that a couple of the apartments allow for quite big groups. We were unlucky enough to have a couple with six boys aged between 8 and 18. They could fill the pool on their own and unfortunately their apartment was above ours and the noise coming through the ceiling was near constant. That being said we still had a fantastic time and would go back but would make sure we booked an apartment with no apartment above it ( we were in the Lunario)
