The historic Castle of Montalto lies in one of the loveliest and most unspoiled parts of the Chianti area of Tuscany, not far from Siena. It is very centrally located for art touring, an excellent home base for sight-seeing, winery visits and exploring hill towns and back roads.
Ten comfortable and well served homes to choose from.

Part of the castle and the houses surrounding it are offered directly by the owner as self-catering vacation rental accommodations. The estate has a swimming pool, a tennis court, an ample library, laundry facilities, private gardens and extensive woods for pleasant walks and jogging. There are beautiful vistas over the farmed fields in the valley.
Silence and peace provide a restful environment, and a part-time concierge assists our guests. You will enjoy independence and privacy but not be isolated.
Large or small, all are tastefully and individually furnished and well equipped. Many houses have fireplaces, washing machines, and terraces or private gardens.

At guests disposal:
Montalto Castle, having various separate houses of different size, common gathering spaces and a lovely chapel, is the ideal location for weddings, seminars, family reunions, workshops, meetings and cerimonies.

Beside the apartments with relative dining/cooking areas, the property has a common dining space with a wide kitchen which can be used by a large group - this area is on request and is charged extra.

For those interested in outdoor activities, as well as a large swimming pool 6 x 12 m. Depth. 1.40 - 2.70 (open from 1 May to 1 November), , we have a tennis court, bocce ball, ping pong, bicycles, a small children’s playground, and maps of the many trails through fields and woods around the castle.

A common room, the Scrittoio, has parlour games and a multi-lingual library.
In our office you will find sight-seeing brochures and magazines offering information on the area. We try to keep updated on the many things to do in the surroundings such as concerts, special events, etc, and we will be happy to provide the assistance you may need in obtaining tickets and often discounts. In the office you can also purchase postcards and stamps, local handcrafts, or our extra virgin olive oil to bring back home with you. And there is a computer with Internet access FREE OF CHARGE for you to check your email (although the connection is not extremely fast).
Wi-Fi internet connection is anyway available on each unit (to pay on the spot).

Weddings:
For Catholic or Protestant weddings, Montalto has a lovely chapel, that can hold 40 or more seated with standing room in the rear for 20 additional people.

Whether you are considering a standing garden reception or a seated dinner, you can rest assured that the setting will be enchanting and produce many charming memories. Montalto offers these options for indoor or outdoor receptions ( ask us for more details)

Distances:
The nearest town Castelnuovo Berardenga is 10 km / 6 miles away, but there is a restaurant less than 3 km / 2 miles from Montalto and a village at 5 km / 3 miles.

You will need a car, however. There is no convenient public transportation to the Castle. If you wish, we can arrange an auto rental with pick up at the airport, at the train station or even directly at the castle.
