The Villa Fontine, aka Villa Niccolai, is a tremendous property, with excellent comforts, exquisite grounds, and a pastoral location. It is a very authentic Tuscan villa, looking small from the outside but is open and spacious inside. Multiple outdoor dining locations are available: poolside, under a new poolside curtained gazebo, in the garden, or under the porch awning. The owners, Angela (mother) and Sylvia (daughter), were gracious, warm, and welcoming. We did a special dinner with a chef the first night and it was divine. It is a great space for kids ages 4 and up (for younger tots, there are lots of stone stairs and the pool is not fenced), with plenty of room to run around outside. Only a few slight negatives: wifi isn't very strong so must stay close to host's house (no signal on porch or at pool); neighboring roosters start calling at 4:30 am, an authentic but not ordered wake-up call; the owner's house is very close to the villa, but owners not intrusive at all; gardening commences at 7 am or earlier each morning. Overall, it was a magnificent place to stay.

Wir waren begeistert von der einmaligen Lage oberhalb Luccas mit tollem Ausblick auf die Stadt, der mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichteten Villa mit blühendem Garten, tollem Pool, Outdoor¬- Pizzaofen und -Grill, perfekt gepflegt, gross, idyllisch, luxoriös und rundum ausgestattet. Es fehlt einfach an nichts, dafür erlebt man puren, landestypischen Urlaubsgenuss. Unser herzlicher Dank geht an Frau Pieroni für Ihre sehr freundliche und unkomplizierte Betreuung. Genauso danken wir Easy Reserve für die unkomplizierte Buchung und die stets schnelle Antwortzeit auf jegliche Fragen, so funktioniert Spitzenservice!

We were thrilled by the unique location above Lucca with spectacular views of the city, the villa is furnished with great attention to detail and has a blossoming garden, great pool, pizza oven and grill, perfectly maintained, large, idyllic, and with luxurious equipment. It simply does not lack anything, it is pure experience, typical holiday treat. Our sincere thanks go to Ms. Pieroni for your very friendly and easy care. Likewise, we thank Easyreserve for uncomplicated booking system and the always quick response to all or our questions, this is how top-service works!
Wunderschönes Ferienhaus. Lage ist super, man ist schnell in Lucca, eine ganz bezaubernde Stadt, am Meer oder in Florenz. Pool und Aussenanlagen sind vom Feinsten. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich. Wir hatten eine tolle Woche. Jederzeit wieder.
[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] Beautiful house. Location is great, you arrive quickly in Lucca, a very charming city, the sea or in Florence. Pool and outdoor facilities are the finest. The landlord is very friendly. We had a great week. Every time again.
La Sorgente was paradise in Tuscany| The Villa was very clean and comfortable. Our party of 10 loved all the little sitting areas which meant we had space to ourselves when we needed it. The pool was clean and in a lovely area to sit. The views from the house were stunning and the garden was lovely. We booked Morena for 3 meals which were excellent. Altogether we would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone. Party of 10 from Boulder (US), Calgary (Canada), Essex and Shropshire UK.
What a beautiful place! We stayed at Borgo Tollena unit La stellaia with my family (6 total) and it was perfect. It was very spacious, and each room had it's own bathroom. Everything was updated and very nicely decorated. Outside we had our own grassy area with a picnic table with a gorgeous view of the vineyards - perfect for lunch or dinner. The pool was great to come home to after a day of touring the countryside. San Gimignano was close by (5 minute drive), but not quite close enough to walk, unless you wanted to go on a long walk. The supplies were sparse (no soap or paper towels) but that was easily remedied by a trip to the local supermarket. Barbara, the manager, was very helpful with breakfast the first morning and trying to figure out the internet (which was spotty...) It was certainly a beautiful yet cost effective place to stay while visiting Tuscany - we would definitely stay here again.
Die Unterkunft ist sehr gepflegt und sehr gut ausgestattet.Sie liegt in einem wunderschönen Garten mit verschiedenen Sitzgelegenheiten, die alle von uns genutzt werden konnten.
Vor allem aber auch die Herzlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft der Vermieter haben uns einen wunderschönen Urlaub ermöglicht.
Der Vermieter bekochte uns mit toskanischen Köstlichkeiten hergestellt mit frischen Produkten aus dem eigenen Garten.
Nochmals herzlichen Dank für die viele Mühe.
Gut fanden wir auch, dass wir von der Wohnung aus nicht weit ans Meer,in die Berge, nach Lucca,Pisa und Florenz hatten.
Wir können die Unterkunft nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

But above all the warmth and hospitality of the owner which made it a wonderful holiday.
The owner cooked a Tuscan meal for us prepared with fresh produce from the garden.

We also found it nice that from the apartment it was not far from the sea, the mountains, Lucca, Pisa and Florence.
We can only recommend the accommodation highly.
The accommodations were excellent, the sites around the property were spectacular. The area is very quiet and clean. The people are wonderful, especially the property manager, she was very helpful. She provided us with maps, made reservations for us and even had the fridge stocked with drinks. I definitely recommend this property.
Wir kannten das Castello schon aus früheren Jahren und fanden es unverändert schön. Der Pool ist gut gepflegt wie alles. Wir hatten ein App. außerhalb des Schlosses, aber mit wunderschöner Aussicht auf die toskanische Landschaft, so dass wir es jederzeit wieder buchen würden. Sowohl die Jugendlichen (3) als auch wir waren sehr zufrieden. Besonders angenehm ist, dass ein Bus praktisch von vor dem Haus (oder manche auch vom nächsten Ort, ca. 1 km) nach Florenz fährt, so dass man sich die nervige und teure Parkplatzsuche dort sparen kann. Das Personal war durchgehend sehr nett und zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit.
Pros: The villa was a great retreat on the outskirts of town. We truly enjoyed ourselves in the lovely town of Greve. A short walk into town will bring you to all the shops and restaurants that you will need. I would definitely stay here again. We loved the wine, food, and the people of Greve.
Cons: It is worth noting that the hill up to the villa is of considerable ascent for those of you that have mobility issues. I would estimate a range of about 20 - 40 degrees of uphill grade for the entire trip to the villa. It wasn’t too much of an issue for us, but it is worth noting for the walks into town and back. Another note is that the washing machine and the dryer are rather small. We only had two couples and we felt like we were doing laundry everyday. Lastly, the only disappointment that we had was that some of the amenities are at the main office only. For example, the Internet connection. Unlike the listing, there is no Internet connection at the villa. It is at the main office. All business, check-in, check-out, internet usage, etc. needed to be completed at the main office, which is all the way across town and it operates on Italy time, so it is not always open. We are tech savvy, so to complete our daily vacation blog, we had to make time to venture over to the office to get online and this was one of our few requirements and largest disappointment with the villa. We felt mislead despite emails confirming the availability of an internet connection.
Like I said, I would definitely stay here again, but I would know going in that there is no Internet at the Villa.
6 of us had a wonderful week here. The apartment was spacious and clean, the area was beautiful - only 30min drive to Cortona. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class.
