October in Tuscany in autumn-colours, sunny days and cool nights. La Poggetta has a well-working fireplace and central heating, it was cosy warm in the evenings; during the day time it was sunny and warm enough to keep the doors open (don't forget to turn down the heating, you pay extra for gas and it's not cheap!). The pool was sparkling clean but the water to cold for a swim, instead we enjoyed every day the tennis court. Try the outdoors pizza oven; there are good family restaurants in town and nearby. The COOP supermarket in Cavriglia (open from 8.30-12.45; 16.30-20.30) closed on Sundays carries all the necessary household and food items you need. Remember to buy a few essential food and toiletry items on your way to Cavriglia before your arrive. The owners are very nice and helpful. Thanks to the internet connection in the house we were able to communicate by using a translator website. Check out the guest book, there are lots of tips where to go for a nice meal; or localities. We arrived at Florence airport and rented a car; the drive is an easy 50min along the autostrada and onto the very winding roads. From La Poggetta you can explore the hilly country side; it's 45mins to Sienna; and you have to see Radda in Chianti. We had a great stay.

We loved Casa Simona - very pretty house with fab views. Extremely well presented and clean on arrival and welcome pack of wine, milk and breakfast goods was a nice touch. Great location - easy driving distances from lots of interesting places such as Siena, Volterra and Florence. Susan, Ipswich

We had a fantastic holiday in Firenze and our stay at appartment Uva made it all the more enjoyable. It has the best of both worlds, near enough to the city centre, whilst also being set in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We had worried that without hiring a car it would be tricky for us to see everything and get to our countryside accomodation but it was all easy accessible by a walk and a trip on bus number 14 from Via Ripa. Simone, the owner, was so helpful and provided us with everything we needed, even reserving us tickets for the Uffizi. We would also strongly recommend visiting Sienna whilst in Florence as it was absolutely mind blowing and easy to get to by bus. All in all a trip full of fantastic memories, thank you x
