We have just returned from Lo Spadino and we miss it already.
We were a large group of people with two children. The weather wasn't great but the children never got tired of playing inside the house and they also loved the time spent outdoors.
The house is very clean and spacious and we felt very safe with our toddler as the stairs are protected and we did not have to worry about her running everywhere in the house. The temperature in the house was excellent and easy to adjust. Part of our group had a shower in the morning and part in the evening and nobody had any problems with hot water supply.
The rooms are very large and the beds are comfortable, we had a cot in our room and still had heaps of space.
We did have most of our meals out but always had cooked breakfast at the property and some evening meals. The kitchen is very well equipped and we were able to cook and really feel at home. You can easily buy food at the alimentari nearby or at bigger supermarkets which are very easy to find.
As previously stated by other reviews Lo Spadino is at a great location for access to many beautiful places in Tuscany. Unfortunately we only spent six nights at the property! During the day we drove to Siena (fantastic!), Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Vinci. Part of our group went back to Florence and to the outlet shops where they made great purchases! We also saw San Gimignano during the day and night and we wish we had had more time to explore the town.
Barbara, Maris and Antonella were faultless and I have no words to express our admiration and gratitude to them. I wish we had had more time to get to know the family better, but we were out most of the time.
On our first night we had ordered the Tuscan meal, but due to a problem with our satnav we arrived very late at Lo Spadino. This was not a problem for the Montagnanis and our meal was lovely and freshly prepared very late at night. The steak was amazing! This was a very special start to our stay. We also had a lovely breakfast prepared by the family on our first morning. The olive oil, wine and salami from Lo Spadino are excellent.
Barbara was always helpful and never intrusive. On the last night I needed to see a doctor and Barbara drove me to town and helped me greatly, including with the translation! We could not have done this without her help.
I would certainly recommend this property and would love to go back there!
