Live the Dream

My family is split between the uk and Australia . Knowing our mum from uk could no longer make the long flight to Australia we from Australia endeavoured to have a family holiday. Italy was always on our bucket list. This holiday took 15months to organise, . 4 from Australia 4from the uk, we have not had a holiday together ever. We chose volterra as it was easy access to pisa, sienna,Florence , San Gimanyinou , volterra, and vada all places we visited. We drove down the beautiful drive to our villa. Along the driveway beautiful vines, cherry trees, roses, stunning, We stopped our two cars got out to be greeted by a friendly warm loveable couple who opened their arms heart and home to us. We walked onto the villa beautifully decorated in Tuscan furniture, clean and welcoming. The view at the the back of the villa over looked the valleys of rolling hills and breathe taken scenery, to the side of the villa we could see the city of volterra, fabulous. We had to pinch ourselves to believe we weren't dreaming this was actually happening. Our gracious hosts give us welcoming information on how to get to places, what they recommended us seeing, restaurants etc. They invited us to lunch by the pool were we learnt about there lives and we spoke of ours in Australia and England. We woke in the morning to pure tranquility, birds singing, mist over the valley, smell from the roses, magic. Volterra is such a friendly welcoming city, fabulous restaurants with amazing coffee shops and gelato to die for. We were like children in a candy shop trying to decide which flavour to have. We were amazed when everything closed at 1.00 then reopened at 4, something that we will be proposing for Australia . The history of Tuscany intrigued us the sheer beauty and architect of the chapels, statues, streets, bridges, rivers. The sea at Vada so clear and iridescent blue that the boats looked like they were floating In the air, warm waters that we bathed in whilst surrounded by unbelievable blue sky. Night time sitting with all the family glass of wine, crusty bread, Cheese, talking about what we saw and done, laughing at attempting the language, trying to read road signs, and driving on the wrong side of the road. By the end of two weeks we certainly began to know more of the language. The advantage of the villa was if we planned an outing and not everyone wanted to go, they could grab a book lye by the picturesque pool, stroll around the peaceful village, whilst the others explored. There was something for every age to do. We have never been to Italy before but will definitely go again, we had an amazing holiday, made extra special by the venue and the wonderful hosts. We definitely lived the dream 14days of pure indulgence surrounded by family and friends,.
