Gagner une semaine en Toscane!
Fermé
In September 2012, me and my partner Jon booked a beautiful rustic villa on the hilltop, overlooking gorgeous Buti, surrounded by nothing but woods, fig trees and olive groves. We toyed wit the idea of renting a car but decided against it (buses go everywhere on Sundays, surely!). When we arrived by a local bus and saw how steep the hill was (a mountain!) and how tiny the roads where, I was thanking God we didn't have a car (as I was the only one with the driving license and would not risk that route). We ended up trekking up and down (2km one way!) the hill for all the food shopping. Those wine bottles were heavy... when we finally got them. Who knew all the shops would be closed on a Sunday in a sleepy Italian village?? Those little romantic walks of ours were especially fun at night, after meals in lovely Buti trattorias. No. Light. At. All. Just woods, bats, cicadas and no idea where we're going.
Luckily, the completely remote location of our villa, even though it limited our drinking, allowed us to run around unclothed most of the time. So it was not all bad!
We went back to Italy the following year, this time to Montemarcello, near Cinque Terre, and stayed in a cottage on the top of a 250m cliff, overlooking a beautiful sandy beach. Still, had to trek down and up to get there...
Must just be our Italian luck! We're already planning another trip, this time somewhere less hilly... Maybe.
